a burden to those I love is a bit unsettling.
While I personally don't see suicide as an option, I find myself
far less judgmental of them that do than I once did.[:(]

I feel the same exact way. Love my kids very much and don't want to be a burden. I'm sure they wouldn't feel that way but.....

The worst part of dying is the hurt it would cause my kids.

To fetch up with second and third degree burns over 75 percent of the body. This is a death sentence, but, you might well live for a week or two.

I worked several cases like this when I was a paramedic. Horrible. So painful.

There is an obscure Robert Redford movie where he plays a barnstorming pilot after WW1. One of his buddies crashes, the plane is on fire, the pilot is trapped and is about to burn. He cries out to the bystanders "Kill me!" That was some good advice.

Up until yesterday it was falling into a catch basin and drowning.
Now that I'm retired I'll have to think of a new one.

Burning to death[:(].An old tank driver once told Me tank crews in the war carried pistols not most to be used on the enemy but on themselves if they were trapped in a burning tank.

We all die alone, no way around that.

Being eaten by a large predator, cat, bear or crocodile is probably a primal fear, part of Jung's collective unconscious.

For me it is burning or falling.

The twin towers were my ultimate nightmare. Choose to burn or fall 900 feet. Horrifying.

I am not scared of drowning. Burning, or cancer, yes.
    But not drowning.
When I was 6 years old my parents took me to an adult party, it was an afternoon barbecue held next to the swimming pool at the apartments where my aunt live.
I was the only kid there, it was not a swimming pool party. I was fully dressed.
Standing near the deep end, I jumped into the pool.
I can still remember, drifting down to the bottom of the pool. The water was a green-blue color, it was pretty. I remember looking up, and the bubbles drifted up to the surface, and I could see the sun shining and the blue sky.

There were adults standing all around. A friend of my aunt's named Jack Kirschner jumped in, fully clothed, and dragged me out of the pool.
Just a year ago I was discussing this incident with my uncle, who saw the whole thing. He said "What the hell was that? Suicide attempt?"

I told him I could not explain it.

My most feared way to die is if I'm alive, I don't mind dying if I'm already dead, but dying when I'm still alive scares the hell out of me.
Why don't we go to school and work on the weekends and take the week off!
