What 3 cartridges can you do without...

What 3 cartridges would you retire from the active list...

What 3 cartridges are overhyped - redundant - and useless....

Please limit your self to 3 cartridges per reply - reply as often as needed to satisfy your hate or indifference to your select chamberings...

.32 short colt

.33 winchester

.270 winchester

Clearly I can do without .22LR since I have been able to purchase a grand total of 150 rounds in the past 8 years.

225 Winchester. 22-250 is superior in every way

With what it does in the wind, I would never hunt with it, but it grenades a tater like nobody's business. [:)]

You don't have to shoot them, somebody will want to. Why get rid of any? You might as well ask which there posters do you want to eliminate from the GB boards? Not nice.

.32 S&W AKA .32 short (a slingshot has better penetration)
.25 ACP (inferior to .22LR in my opinion)
16 Gauge (fills a gap where there is no gap)
The road to hell is paved with COMPROMISE.

What self respecting shooter keeps the .270 winchester when the .30-06 does it better and than some - why limit yourself...

    Any .14 calibers...

Actually Jim, John Browning saw the .25 differently. It being a centerfire with a FMJ projectile, it was more reliable in semiautomatic guns than a .22 with a soft lead projectile.

Keep all the cartridges. Every single one of them has at least one person following it.

I still think the 300 win mag is inferior to the 300 H&H
My thoughts on the 300 RUM why would you not use a 30-378?
280 REM just so you can fill the gap between 270 WCF and 30-06?

I never really saw the sense in them when they first came out, although some irrelevant gun writers wanting to boost sales sure did.

So what if the action was a wee bit shorter.

For each and every one, there was an established cartridge in existence already, plus the exorbitant cost of the proprietary ammo hastened their death.

The mere fact, the shorty's are practically extinct proves these points.

So we have the .223 and the 5.56...

Do we need both - can't we lose one or the other...

    It's just confusing and unnecessary.

    28 gauge shotshell

    .41 magnum

I believe in having guns that accept cartridges that are readily found at most locations. Usually the classics, 30-06, 30-30, 38spl, 45acp, etc.
I went to Arkansas and was invited to go hog hunting. A relative loaned me the 30-30 I had sold him, but had no ammo. I picked up a box of 30-30's at a gas station.

    Can I do another list?

    .327 magnum
Keep .270 but get rid of the rather pointless .280
    .35 S&W auto...

Or we could just make one long list of cartridges that have a number in the name that doesn't resemble the diameter of the round at all.

Perusing this list, there are about 3 dozen or so that could disappear forever and never be missed by anyone:

Even though I love some of these, in every case, there's something that does it better:
    Anything that ends in "Savage"
    Anything that ends in "Marlin"
    Anything that ends in "Remington"

    That's 3, right?

I wouldn't say get rid of but more like I have no use for. There are probably of bunch of them but I'm going with more popular cartridges like anything in .17 or that .300 Blackout.
