UPS scwewd me!

I shipped a Harley windshield glass today using UPS. I used a HD box that had contained a complete windshield. A sticker on the box stated the shipping weight was 9 pounds. I shipped the glass only, so it should have been lighter, or at least the same weight.

I checked my email when I got home. I'd had UPS send a email to the guy I shipped it to, and a copy to me. In the email, the billed weight was 30 pounds!!

I'll be back at the UPS place in the morning. They owe me a partial refund!

The "billed weight" was for an oversized package. I think it goes oversized after 108" (I might be a little off on this measurement) combined length and girth. This has been the standard for UPS and USPS and the others since I got into the shipping biz 25 yrs ago. Bigger items take up more room ,so they get charged more.

All over sized boxes go for the 30 lb rate.

I WOULD RATHER BE DUCK HUNTING.

My guess it it had to go by "dimentional weight" which means it is based on the size of the box.
