I'll be watching.
Sorry guys....I always put that movie right up there with "Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory". Beach
I always thought it would make a great name for a morning-after birth control product.
I got Navy Seals
Damnit

That is funny.
Thanks. I haven't laughed this much and not shared it with my wife in a while. I'm still laughing.
That is one bad movie. The concept is good and that's what gives it longevity, but the acting one of the last of the '70s genre, a time when acting wasn't required to make movies.
A new version would be accepted.
The chair is aganist the wall.
I love the scene where the history teacher looks out the window and Russian paratroops are landing on the practice field.
"It was good"
One of the all time worst, if you have to watch it Doug, why on earth would you also endure the commercials?
TiVo.

Cheesy movie. How did the enemy get APCs and tanks that far inside the country without no one noticing that soon after the invasion? How were their planes that the paratroopers jumped from make it that far inside the country to begin with? It implies that the SAC and TAC were sleeping.

RACK OPS! Sure, "Navy Seals" is a cute factitious movie about sailors who want to be Marines. By your signature, you were/are a U.S. Marine!!!! GET A GRIP! THROW THAT MOVIE AWAY! Semper Fi![;)]
Earl, I don't have Navy Seals. Navy Seals was on last night on my AMC channel in the same timeslot that Doug had Red Dawn in
I guess if I stayed up till 1:30 I could have watched it [;)]
There we were were on one of the few 3-ship ARG's in history in the middle late 1980's on one of the first Pacific MEU-SOC deployments. The USMC LTCOL who commanded the MEU Infantry unit had designated his battalion as the "Ninja Battalion". This retard had forced all of his Marines to dye one set of their BDU's black...the BDU's still looked a little like BDU's....just black BDU's. You can imagine how the Marines felt later in life when they went to other units and were told to throw those messed up BDU's away....Ah but I digress, back to the story. Anyway we had a training mission to send a covert rubber boat group ahore on an island and set up a monitoring station and report on enemy activities(You know the typical kind of training garbage that some intel wienie has spent way too much time thinking about). Well clearly it's a SEAL team mission (no more than six men) since it involves about a fourteen mile open ocean transit; but LTCOL "Ninja" Retardo,USMC wants his Recon Marines in on the operation....you know the USMC type...."My Recon guys can do anything a SEAL can do". The SEAL platoon commander, Lt. Joe Kernan from SEAL TEAM 5, says, "Thats a long way to go in a rubber boat especially in the open ocean. I don't think you want the Recon Marines to try it especially since the water could be really rough out there." LTCOL Retardo, USMC insists and demands that the MEU Commander permit his elite jarheads to join the party. I think you know where this is going.....two Zodiacs one with six SEAL's one with six USMC recon Ninjas are prepared. They were dropped off in horrible weather, made about 7 miles when the Zodiacs were flipped and swamped. SEALS got to their Zodiac, righted it sans outboard motor and then noticed that the Recon pride of the Corps were attempting to drown themselves. Tough decision for Lt Kernan...does he get his guys back in their boat and continue the mission with paddles or do he and his men jump back into the water rescue the non-swimmers of RECON. As he said later, "If it had been war and not training I'd let the idiots drown." So he and each of his SEALS dove back in, swam around to find the screaming drowning jarheads, got all of them..... by this time the rubber boats have blown away to China....all their gear, SEAL and USMC, is on the bottom of the ocean. And the SEALs start to swim dragging their burdens the remaining 7 miles. On board the ships we hear nothing....we still hear nothing...we still hear nothing...but you know SEALS don't transmit until they have something to say. Finally the Commodore calls a training time out lauches a helo and they are found on an island beach...six exhausted SEAL's and six bedraggled USMC-RECON wannabe's. So here is the best part of the story...after the errant commandos(both the Navy and the fake ones) get back on board. Col Retardo,USMC is furious about the loss of all the USMC gear....The SEAL's couldn't care less about theirs...They have more. He starts to berate Joe Kernan in front of the Commodore and the MEU Commander about irresponsibility and the loss of the gear. Joe looks at him with a withering and disgusted glance and says, "I made a tough call out there; I could either continue my mission or save your Marines do you think I made the wrong call?" Silence...absolute silence. LTCOL "Ninja Retardo, USMC retired soon afterward...as a LTCOL...I think the Commandant got a call on the black ninja suits and maybe all the lost gear. Bottom line... Joe went on to command SEAL TEAM 2 and another Team which we don't talk about. If you check the United States Navy website you can see what Rear Admiral(upper half) Joe Kernan is doing now. I was First Lieutenant on the USS Cayuga LST-1186 at the time and Joe and his team were administratively assigned to me.
Great story...huh? Beach
the last thread of yours. He's on his motorcycle with his
daughter. He was a marine sniper in Lebanon.
P.S. I don't even remember the thread!!!![:0] The diabetes must be in overload now!
I am not doubting your word...but my dim, dark memories say that if you couldn't swim...you wern't a Marine. I saw men dropped for that...
That was, however, 10-15 years previous to your time frame..perhaps that was just another skill thrown overboard in the drive to become user friendly to all and sundry...
I still piss in my radiator when it gets low.

.
And you just taught me another lesson.
Bristling over a preceived 'insult' over something that happened 40 years ago has got to be a sign of ....something...that a feller ought to grow out of. [:D]
