what the heck?!? those Hot Wheels from the late 60's/early 70's are collector's items, the "Holy Grail" of Hot Wheels is a 1969 van called the "Beach Bomb". the first ones had a desgin flaw (too heavy). they had surf boards coming out the back window, but the fixed ones loaded the surf boards in from the side or something, so they were called Side Loaders and retrospectively the first ones (rare) were Rear Loaders. Rear Loader Beach Bomb, or RLBB for short.

the oldest Hot Wheels have "SpectraFlame" paint on them, and the rarest color was Hot Pink -they discontinued it because it was wussy. as it turns out, anything with Hot Pink SpectraFlame paint is worth some $$$ nowadays.

there are only 34 RLBB's in existence.

only 2 are Hot Pink.

one sold for $72,000!!!

here's a nappy dark purple one.

anybody who remembers playing with an old Hot Wheels van like this raise your hand.
