I read this story last night, State penalties are the least of his worries. I'm sure he'll find that out when he appears before a federal judge. I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't wind up with a jail sentence for this one.

My first ex-wife has a cousin who is a very talented taxidermist. He was self-taught, and was really good with birds, even as a young teen. He had a lot of very good bird mounts. Some were hawks, owls, etc. Someone tipped off the local newspaper about this kid who was such talented taxidermist, and the paper came and did a feature story on him, complete with pictures. It didn't take the game wardens long to come pay him a visit.

Life in prison seems a bit excessive. Several lives are ruined and thousands of people had to be inconvenienced all because a troubled teen had too much given and not enough experience, learning and supervision. Let this be a lesson to all parents

He needs to be punished for completely disregarding the law - perhaps some time served with the department of natural resources learning that killing living things just for sport is wasteful and inhumane. 19 is a great time to learn an important lesson about hunting and he probably has a lifetime of hunting and fishing ahead of him. I hope the judge takes his age into consideration in sentencing him.

He's 19, and I agree with Woody, we've ALL done stupid things in the past. This young mans life shouldnt be ruined over this.

he will be fined and hopefully the judge will make him retake huter safety/ethics course. to imprison is stupid. the level of the deed does not warrant prison time. community service with the fish and game people would be my choice of penalty for this youth. and ya i did stupid bababooey too
