Is there any must see places? I'm training during the day. I will be there Sunday eve thru Thursday lunch.

Thanks,
Brian

There's a Sonora Desert Wildlife Center -- or some similar name -- west of town that is very interesting. And I hear there's an awesome aviation museum -- north of town? Not sure.

Other than that, you can hang out somewhere and watch the illegals go by. Honestly, if I didn't have kids & grandkids there I would never see Tucson. It's hot there. Fortunately, you will miss the worst of the heat, and only experience temps in the 100s.

Pima air and space museum, Desert museum , all the animals of the desert. Bring sun screen. 100+ every day. A cold beer by the pool watching the scenery might be best. Have a good time.

Cold Beer may be best I can do. I'm not sure when training will end each day.

Perry Shooter, that's just mean! Next, you'll be telling him that he must wear a tie to Pinnacle Peak! [:0]

Brian, Pinnacle Peak is located IN Trail Dust Town and they no longer have a gun store there, to the best of my knowledge. For Pete's sake, don't go there if you're hungry or in a hurry, because every time I've gone, there has always been a wait. And don't wear a tie! [;)] Check out the website for more info:

Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum is a GREAT place to visit, but it is an all-day affair to really see and enjoy it. I've known some people to blow through the place in three hours or so but, in my opinion, they really miss out. If you've got the time and the transportation, do go (it's out west of Tucson, a good 45 minute drive from downtown). If you go, take Speedway west through Gates Pass in the Tucson Mountains. It's a fantastic drive!

Also out in that general area is Old Tucson, a well-known and famous movie set. I haven't been there in several years, but I seem to recall that they close for the summer months, except for group reservations, etc, etc... Check the website:

Back to food/restaurants...one of my favorites is Mama Louisa's. Italian food, homemade and just incredibly good! We got takeout for Mother's Day recently and it was superb! Yum yum!

On the University of Arizona campus, Flandrau Science Center & Planetarium is hosting a "Venus Transit event" on Tuesday, June 5th, from 3pm-8pm. Watching the planet Venus cross between us (Earth) and the Sun. Hey, according to the website, admission is free during that time frame! [:)]

It really boils down to what are you interested in and what do you have time to do, I reckon. Hope these suggestions get you started!

Big Al (dang, now I'm hungry for some linguini!) [:D]

Just don't drive afterwards. AZ don't play with boozin' 'n' drivin'.

I used to live there in the early 1990s - stationed in Davis-Monthan AFB.

Nice recommendations thus far. You can escape the heat and head up to Rose Canyon and Mt. Lemmon (highest point in the Santa Catalina Mountains, located in the Coronado National Forest north of Tucson, Arizona) or Kitt Peak Observatory (http://www.noao.edu/outreach/kpvc/)

The Biosphere (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Biosphere_2) is also nice to see.

Have fun and enjoy your visit!

Brian, it will not really matter much what time your training is over, cuz if it is anything like when I've been around there it will be hot everywhere for near 24 hours, including around the pool.

That cold beer will still be cold and appreciated day or night, at the pool might be nice. Have a good visit and see what there is to see. [:)]

Sounds like you may not be able to get out much if you are in training all day. Any idea where you will be staying? Easier to recommend near by places to eat and drink with that info.

Mercury lives there and knows the area well, it might be worth getting his input.
