    As the Marine Corps commemorates the Battle of Iwo Jima, we want to hear from those of you with a connection to one of the Corps' defining moments - do you know a Marine who fought there? Have you visited the Marine Corps War Memorial in Washington, DC? Share your photos of Marines at Iwo Jima or the War Memorial, and we'll compile a photo album to share on the anniversary of the flag-raising. Semper Fi.

    On the 19th, they landed. On 23 February 1945, the two Flags were raised on Mount Suribachi.(One just wasn't enough!)
    If you ever get a chance, right outside of Washington,D.C., in Virginia, you should go see the Marine Corps Monument. I went at night, and honestly, there are no words to describe my emotions. It is huge, and well lighted. After reading all of the Marine engagements, I am not ashamed to tell you that I sat on one of the benches, and cried. It is overwhelming.
    In WWII, the Army had 8.5 million men.
    At the peak of the war, after Okinawa, the Marine Corps had 484,000 "MEN"!

    And when he goes to heaven,
    To Saint Peter he will tell:
    "Another Marine reporting, sir;
    I've served my time in hell!"

    On the front, center was:
    Fleet Admiral Nimitz has been quoted for saying:
    "Uncommon valor was a common virtue."

    If given the opportunity, go see it with your son, if you have one. You will never regret it.[;)]
