quote:EUGENE, Ore. -- The Occupy Eugene group says they'll take into consideration the city of Eugene's preferences, but in the end it's a majority vote among protesters that will decide the fate of the movement.

Occupy organizers have been in negotiations with Mayor Kitty Piercy, the city planner and the chief of police.

It's clear the city prefers the protesters move to under the Washington/Jefferson Bridge, but protesters say they aren't moving anywhere without a majority consensus.

And that's not just a 51-percent vote. Occupy Eugene has a policy of reaching a consensus of at least 90 percent before they take action.

"Right now we're sitting at a place where we don't have full consensus. So we have to wait on where the majority of people consent to go, and we don't know when that's going to be. We're just trying to do it the fastest we can 'cause that's what the university asked us to do," said protester Dee.

A vote was taken at Sunday night's general assembly meeting.

Twenty-nine votes came in for relocating to under the Washington/Jefferson Bridge, five votes were cast for Park Blocks at 8th and Pearl and three voters wanted to stay at the Millrace.

Another vote will be taken at Monday's general assembly meeting at 7 p.m.

According to Dee, it could be a lengthy process because the Occupy movement wants to address the concerns of everybody.

They will not get to a 90 % unless they are all stoned.
