Guessing Game gun Barrel

No Prize but let's see who knows what this is. truthfully, I'm stumped.

8 3/4" long. Rifled. chambered 45acp. No sights. 1-12.jpg

    well, you learn soemthing new everyday. Thing weighs a ton and I would have never guessed that's what it is. thnaks guys. Now the big question: Why in the hell would anybody want this thing?

    Well, tried it in a 12g, way too big. maybe for a 10g. I measured the smaller end that would go up the barrel and it's almost exactly 1" in diameter. I thught the bore diameter of a 10 g was like .77something. Hmmmm.

    That [statement above] was in many an old reloading manual.
    Perhaps the barrel was meant to be inserted into a 'firing stand'
    to test/work up loads?

    Perhaps an old Dupont, or Hodgdon, [or other] laboratory fixture?

    I'm guessing now that it's an insert for a 26.5mm flare gun. Would be crazy, but dimensions are right. Know they make them in other calibers, never heard of a 45acp. Just going to put it up on a penny auction and let soemone else figure it out.

    Could it be from some small scale Gatlin type gun?
