There are German military pistols, WWII police and commercial versions, post war pistols produced by Mauser and also copies made under license by Gamba in Italy. Markings and codes will tell the tale of what variation it is.
Now that I know its identity, I'll spend a ridiculous amount of time binging up info and finding out all the details I can.
