Maybe the extra long barrel? I don't know, I'm just guessing.

my WAG would be it's still NIB, and the 8" barrel is an odd one...

I agree, nice shape but the drag line says not NIB. Maybe he just spun the cylinder a few times like a real outlaw, but never shot it.

CDNN advertises their GB auctions on weekly emails. Could be a wider audience.

    1. Python
    2. 8" Python
    3. New in box 8" Python.

A 95% 6" Python will fetch $3,000 with ease. Maybe $3,500. The much less common 8" and new in box? I see $5,000 easily.

Yes, Python prices are nuts and I can't believe Colt can't make a new one that could sell for a profit.

It does have some drag line. Must be by 1981 QC was slipping. My Pythons have all been shot a lot and none show a drag line because they we3re timed proper.

My wife bought this exact same model python for my birthday about 12 years ago. New in the box 675.00 out the door, but my box is in poor condition and if I remember correctly mine is a 1976 issue. Still has never been shot. Looks like a good investment.

To each his own, I think the price is too proud by about $2K. The 8" barrel is unusual. I have the 8" nickel, 38 Special "Target" version - had no idea it was worth more than usual until a few years back. 35 yrs of listening to "why would anyone buy a 38 Special Python?"

I used to have a 8" Python that had Silhouette on the Barrel. I wish I hadn't sold it with what they're going for now. I just thought I wanted something different at the time.[:(]

And it is ending on Easter Sunday. Is it a smart to end an auction(s) on Easter Sunday?

Still stupid high in my view.

I bought a 6" blue python in 1985 for $350. At that time it was the most expensive gun I had ever bought. It is an OK revolver, but I prefer the trigger pull on my Model 14 S&W.
I shot several deer with the Python in the late '90s, then stored it away since it became too valuable to shoot.
Now I am getting to the age where I might actually sell a gun, something I have done very little of in my life. If I decide to sell it, look for a complete crash in the price of Pythons.
