Pork is the new beef in our house. It went up around here a year ago. Califonia drought was blamed. Ill buy it now and then when its on sale. Ive got beef cattle right across the road and listen to them carry-on a lot. The owner will only sell them at auction. I miss having beef but I'm miserably cheap.

I scored a 2 inch thick bone in ribeye on Thurs for $8.99 a pound. Publix usually has one of ribeye, NY Strip, Porterhouse/Tbone or RibRoast on sale each week. The funny thing is to watch the Lobster tail prices. Sometimes they are $3.99 each and sometimes $12.... same size. When they are $3.99 and the Bone in Ribeye is on sale.... the surf and turf is ON....

If you haven't noticed your whole food bill should be a third higher.

Them Minnesota turkeys are all dying from the bird flu, so far it's
around 44 million plus. It takes 4 months to raise a bird, but they
have to disinfect the barns first. There won't be many birds for
    Thanksgiving this year. [:(]

About a year ago over 7 million piglets died, pork prices were way up,
like bacon was 7-8 dollars a pound.

Beef is still up from the drought all over.....chickens are still
    around 7-8 dollars a bird.

I don't know what's coming next, but thanks for the nod that burger
will be going through the roof.[:(][:(][:(][B)][B)]

T bones and rib eyes go on sale every once in a while for 5.99/ 6.59 pound. But that is those thin family packs. I have them thick cut and stock up. Turkey bird is in the freezer now. We eat no beef hamburger any longer. Deer meat is leaner.

You haven't seen the end of food price increases on all products. Plan on a much lower obesity rate on its way.

General consensus among real cattlemen is it won't/can't last too much longer. That said, the next 12-18 months may get worse.
Like surfing, the biggest waves hold the potential for the worst crashes.
