I was just told that when you win an auction, here or elsewhere, the seller is supposed to ship the product to you before you pay for it.

Have you ever heard of an auction working like that????

That's ridiculous. What company will send you a product before you pay for it?

    That simply can't be true.

I'd look for Escrow Services every time, if I was either a Buyer OR a Seller, if that was the case.

no way. thats just complete nonsense. who in their right mind would do that?

an escrow service maybe. that way, the buyer send the money, gets the item and if happy the seller gets the money. if not, the buyer doesnt get the money back until the seller gets the item back. thats secure and for any high dollar purchase, would be the way to go.

shipping the item before you get the money is just hanging a sign on your forehead saying plaease rip me off....

My response to that would be on the order of "Be sure to let me know how that works out for you."

I just bought an item today via internet. Do you know, the seller actually wanted me to PAY before he would ship the item to me? The NERVE of some people! [:p]

What is good for the goose.........there is no difference really. I ship you money first or you ship me product first, somebody has to trust somebody.

It really wasn't all that long ago that COD was the transaction of choice. It's a shame we don't do more business this way now.

I've seen sellers on here complain about a buyer taking precautions with their money when sending it, things like certified mail, OMG the nerve of a buyer sending hundreds or thousands of dollars thru the mail and wanting a signature proving it was received. What could the world be coming to?

That is the common method of closing transactions in Nigeria.

Send me the money (or taxes) first and I shall happily send you yours by return mail.

Sounds like a scammer trying to find a fool...

I wouldn't ship a box of rocks without payment.
