The kid she was supervising even told the lifeguards she never came up......

Since she was at the bottom and never surfaced I suspect her bathing suit got hung up on something on the bottom of the pool

    Drowning victims don't quickly pop to the surface and float. Staying down two days in that sort of water is no surprise.

    Prob. got her * stuck on the main drain...Still a horrible way to go.
    2 DAYS??? Was it the maint. man that cleans the pool who found her in the catch net of his "leaf-master"?

    That must've been one nasty * pool if you couldn't see someone on the bottom.

    The article says the health department came out Monday and Tuesday to conduct an inspection of the facilities, with the body not being discovered Tuesday night.

    Public pool inspections are routine matters that don't take a great amount of time, so I'm wondering why they came out two consecutive days. Was the pool unable to pass inspection and she was found as the staff was draining the pool to completely replace the water in attempt to pass?

    Years and years ago I worked as a Swimming instructor for the Kiawanis Clubs of Kansas City. We pulled Life guard duty and every hour on the hour we emptied the pool of people and did a bottom sweep (swimming underwater) one man in each lane (olympic pool) from one end to the other. Seems as If someone wasnt doing their job.

    What action did they take when they found their 4 year old unattended and were told the babysitter had failed to resurface?

    That is the most irresponsible and utterly incomplacent thing that I have ever heard of.
    The boy did good, no one listened.
    The staff at closing time orders everyone out and does an inspection of the pool and area before lock up.
    Was the pool closed on Monday ?
    Hopefully the investigation will go somewhat better.
    This is sad beyond measure, 5 kid's do not have a Mother now [V]

    A couple of teenagers who broke into the pool after hours found it.

    How effing pathetic is that?

    Of course, this happened in Massachusetts.

    Well I guess if someone didnt take the big gulp once in a while, we wouldnt need lifeguards[:0] This is really a sad state of affairs. Just glad it wasent in NY[:0] we got enough press the passed week[:(!]

    We need more swimming pool laws.
    That way law abiding citizens will have to wait 24 hours after eating before they go in the pool. They ill have to wear gov't approved safe swimwear too.
    It will make everything much safer.
