I am not too familiar with Colt Custom Shop, but doen't this seem like a good deal? Anyone know what these go for? Other's listed on similar sites seem to be quite a bit more. Your thoughts?

Dished screw holes and too heavy a hand with the buffing wheel on the trigger guard. Unskilled, over polishing used to be the sign of a refinished gun. That's a big negative to my eyes.
I have a 1903 SAA Colt rebuild in 1957 that is as crisp as my 2nd Generation SAA. So it can be done.
The sleezoid boxes with Philips screws really turns me off. Hardware is incorrect and no attempt was made at authenticity.
I had a Colt cased Pocket Police made in the 1980's that had a similarly poorly made case, mould and flask that couldn't be used.
The Colt Rep said the accoutrements were for display.
Some gun nut should clue the Custom Shop in on what Colt lovers want to see.

All SAA's made since 1984 were assembled in the Colt Custom Shop. So, this is nothing special. Colt Custom Shop wood cases have been available as an accessory for years.

I think this gun was refinished, based on the problems v35 noted.

Not "right" - refinished ... poorly.

It would be great if his pieces could bare "the light of day" with decent photos.

    Oh well . . .

    ===================

PS: Auction # 262455612 - started at $1,595.00. It eventually morphed into: Auction # 270602725 - started at and sold at $1,295.00.

I do hope that everyone will be happy and content.

The jury is out on this one. The givette jury.

What I mean is, is that the roll-stamp may very well be latter-day Colt quality out-the-door. It may not be buffed down. And the triggerguard base area...yes, it's rounded, but, with the Q/C of latter day Colts, I'm not too quick to snap to judgement that this item has been reworked since it left the factory.

    But, hey..what do I know?

This is the same guy that was asking about a supposedly NIB pre 64 model 94 Winchester. All of his auctions are questonable.

Yep, and most likely the seller as well since they have the same last name & location.

I think it looks like a typical recently manufactured Colt. QC is not nearly what it used to be. The case hardened frame coloration is difficult to reproduce by a low price refinisher.

I think this fellow is too shy to make an honest shameless plug for his stuff. I also think it is overpriced and its authenticity suspect.

Genuine ivory stocks will bring $500+ (assuming that's what they are).

If the cylinder is unturned, shouldn't the "44-40" stamped on it be right-side-up and on the left side of the gun instead of vice versa?

Alan you seem to have a personal vendetta against this guy for one reason or another. Yes we all know what he is but I don't think it bothers the rest of us as much as it does you.

    Vendetta? NO.

Offended? YES, when we are all played for fools here on GB.

Concerned? YES, when the unsuspecting are shilled!

    ( The poster posted 26 times, 13 remain ... curious? )

If this person needs defending, I'll listen to the appropriate feedback from the appropriate folks.
