Bought a little piece of Texas to call my own- pic

The city has been closing in on me. The wife and I have been shopping and finally things seem to have aligned. This is about 10 minutes farther south of Dallas than my current place. I only bought a few acres but nothing else is around so looks bigger than it is. There is a little pond which the property touches and some good trees.

    Nice!

May I suggest you keep it as wild as you can. It doesn't look like there will be much clearing to do.

    Congratulations!

++++++ good neighbors are the ones further away...if you can buy any more acres do it...you won't regret ...we have been trying to find a larger lake place with more acres but no luck so far staying within a reasonable distance of grankids

I think he said 10 minutes further out than he is now. You can always go ten minutes further out. Long commutes can be a pain in the butt but I think it's worth it. You get to enjoy the time you do get at home.

    Nice. Congrats

I live out in the country on the side of mountain (bump compared to some of you). That 34 mile commute is worth it!! Gives me time to wind up and wind down depending on the direction I am headed. Everyday pulling back into the driveway feels like I am on vacation away from any reminders of work.

Congrats on your new spread!! You said it touches the pond, does that mean your property line is on the edge of the pond? Do you have any rights to the pond?

That is some good looking land.
I have spent hundreds of hours driving across Texas in the big rig. The more I see of Texas, the more I like it. If I weren't so settled here in North Carolina I would consider moving to Texas.

Nice land down that way. I was working in the Dallas area about ten years ago and took a weekend off. Checked out a Renaissance Fair. Land was green and lush, well treed. Had a creek crossing it. If not for the lack of big mountains behind it, it would have been perfect.

    Anyway, have fun down there.

Congrats! Nothing like having a little land to call your own. I just paid off my seven (empty) acres in Arcadia Michigan. Hoping to build a cabin there one day.

Thanks everyone. We're happy to have it.

It's in Ellis county, about a little less than an hour south of down town Dallas, about the same to down town Ft. Worth.

The plan is to bulk a house on it before to long, either this year or next spring.

Most importantly it fit the modest budget.
