Odd that they chose to fab the headers and log manifold they did. While they look 'kool' there are much better designs for performance.

Those were my thoughts as well but they seemed to know what they were doing. Back in the early 1970 there was a guy here in Wilmington who "wedged" a 426 Chrysler wedge engine into an old Renault. I remember seeing him driving that monster around town. He sat where the back seat would have been.quote:Originally posted by iceracerx

Back in the late 1960's i knew a guy named Ron. Ron did not have the use of his legs, so his car had hand controls. Ron's car was a 1958 Plymouth Sports Fury, 2 door hardtop, painted white, lowered in the front with a factory 160 speedometer. Torqueflite auto trans with a 1957 Chrysler Firepower 392 hemi that Ron had installed himself. We use to hang out at the local A&W drive in. Lots of people with nice old cars hung out there. One was a fellow named Mike that had a 1961 Chevy Impala that was tricked out with paint, wheels, posi rear end and a warm 327 engine. Mike was kind of a * and would bad mouth people because he thought his car was so much better. One night he started picking on Ron because he drove a Plymouth. Ron unable to kick Mike's * due to his disabilty offered to race him. We all went out to a place called The chimney Rock Golf course outside of Napa because there would be no police and a long road for the race. The road on each side was lined with friends of the two racers. The quarter mile was already marked off on the road from past races. Someone lined up the two drivers and flagged them off. Off they went in a cloud of smoke. At the end of the quarter they were nose to nose. No winner. Ron felt pretty good and Mike had to listen to to a bunch of crap from his buddies that some gimp in a Plymouth had a car that was just as fast as his.
