colt ar 15 ?

has any one heard of a 80s model ar15 that suposed to be semi auto only actualy being sold and ending up being a true select fire rifle

    No such thing, at least not coming from Colt (who owns the name AR-15). About that time the BATFE established a ruling which prohibited the use of any M16 fire control parts in AR-15 rifles, just to keep everyone honest.

    All the guns mfg post 1986 has a "block" in the lower reciever to prevent conversion to full auto. However, PBMS and all the aftermarket AR are completly convertable aka "open" lowers.

    But whatever it is your thinking, don't try it.

    i was wondering if colt ever messed up and shipped a few full autos out as semi i have no intention of converting any firearm

    AR-15 and M16 receivers can be identifed at a glance and military contract weapons and sporting rifles were/are manufactured in sperate areas of the facility to ensure there is no chance of a mix up. Colt never shipped out M16 receivers as AR-15 sporters.
