Look like google's spin offs are going to be raking in the money before long on this technology!

And a lot of taxi drivers, truck drivers & delivery drivers will get laid off with no work!

Too bad for those poor people now who cannot support their families. Oh sure they will get retrained to being obsolete[:o)]

As always the organized will be on top making all the money.

The Alphabet Inc. unit created to commercialize Google Self-Driving Car R&D said it?s fleshing out a January 2018 announcement about adding ?thousands? of the Chrysler vehicles, which at the time didn?t specify a number. The deal could be worth about $2.5 billion for automaker FCA if Waymo buys the maximum number of vans, which have a $39,995 base price. It follows a March deal with Jaguar to buy up to 20,000 electric i-Pace crossovers over the next few years.

In addition to the ride service it intends to start, Waymo also expects to put its autonomous-driving technology into trucks and delivery vehicles. It is also developing systems for buses or other vehicles that can ferry riders to mass transportation systems. The fourth area would involve licensing its technology to automakers like Fiat Chrysler.

I call BS on this happening ANY time soon. Not within ten years, at least. Can you imagine how many hijackings and such will happen if a truck full of "stuff" is out there by itself?

Also, the technology STILL isn't there for cars to drive themselves on the majority of roads outside of major cities.

It might happen, but not in the near future.

How many innocent people have to be killed by autonomous vehicles before the states outlaw them? It's just computer code, & computer code can have errors.

I predict that within the next year, some state AG is going to charge the head of Waymo or Google with murder or depraved indifference after someone gets killed by one of their cars.

Dumb down the population so when we vote for enslavement on the ballot the majority will agree.
