So I have a 2005 Nissan Frontier 4x4 king cab with 80k miles, that I bought new for about $21k.

I got 2012 VW Jetta TDi DSG, with 90k miles that I bougt new for about $24k.

They are worth about the same [:o)] Pick-ups hold their value so much better.

The Chevrolet City Express delivery van is a re-bagged Nissan NV200.

The Ford Maverick (SUV) is a re-bagged Nissan Patrol. As was the Ford Escape that were sold in Europe.

Daimler-Chrysler also owns a small part of Nissan.

I don't buy new vehicles. Let someone else "take a bath" in the first 1-2 years depreciation.

Now is the time to buy a few.. Sure the value will go down until the flap blows over. Then they will be fetching premium prices and will be highly sought after. Like the Toyota frame rust scam. People around here that held onto the ones they owned or got their hands on a recalled one are turning down wads of cash for them.

    I bought a cream puff Benz 04 E-320 with 66K in 2009 paid 16K

    In 2012 I bought a RAM1500 Quad cab with 118K for $6500

Today the E320 has 83K and the RAM 126K and while the Benz is minty and the truck has some rust and scratches and a few minor dings and a torn driver seat they are roughly the same value.

The Benz is so sweet I wouldn't have any reason to sell it anyway and at this price I would gladly buy the car back but I might sell the RAM cause IMO it ain't worth the exaggerated price but these things sometime defy logic or at least how we can see because supply demand thing raises its head and all one can do is roll with it

Funny you mention that as the tranny was replaced with a new (not rebuilt) one in 2011 before I bought it (along with a complete upgrade to everything by the former owner who's wife then insisted he get rid of it)

i am with you. I have purchased four cars in the last five or so years. Three of the vehicles were a year old or less only one was brand new. I try to buy "almost new" letting someone else eat that new car depreciation.

Depends on what the fix is. What if it hurts performance and MPG.

I heard it will hurt both, but no emissions testing here in Alabama. Thinking about getting it tuned to to get more HP and torgue anyways, if I decide to keep it [:)]
