Hello I normally don't toot my own horn BUT TOOT
This skinny old man with great tutors have joined the 21's century and gotten a photo bucket account Thought you might like pictures of a anvil I made some time ago from a section of main line R.R. Track
EDIT Thanks all for the kind comments This was at the time my first attempt at using a Horizontal mill. I did it at a night class my first time with lathe and mill work . It was my project to get a passing grade at the end of the year. I did it free hand with no drawing just an Idea of what I wanted it to look like. All milling was done dry because of equipment being WWII surplus without cooling fluid. This used track was glass hard on top and the class instructor was not Happy with the tool sharping that I caused. He did like the results & asked to have it in the school display case for a year. I not only enjoyed the class but what it taught me most was appreciation in the labor involved in running a Machine shop My hats are off to you guys.

If he's a 'sound' sleeper,,,,,I'm thinkin' I could be burglar for one night,,,,,,oh wait, he has guns !!!![:D][;)][:D]
And sumthin' tells me he can use'em too...
Both the anvil AND guns... [:D]
Not to say you can't make the steel sing...
'Cause I've heard her do it with your hammer. [:p]
That anvil is such a work of art, I had to show my wife.
More of a pain than a plus. I only use it on heavy cuts, or SS & Ti.

I have to of my dad's. They have been nothing more than door stops for 30 years.
And good pictures!

I have a Hunk of Container Crane Rail that I use for an anvil. Really Heavy Rail...200#/Foot?
Am always on the loookout for a Real Anvil in the 200+ Pound Range, as My "Anvil" has No Horn, nor Hardie Hole...
