Dog dropped off by our house - meet Rosco
drobs
Member Posts: 22,531 ✭✭✭✭
He came up to the house yesterday, whined for attention, and finally got it.
Tried to ignore him hoping he would go elsewhere but I hate to hear an animal suffer.
He seems real gentle. Likes being petted and he let me pick the burs out of his fur.
Going to give him a flea bath and take him to the vet in the next day or so.
Broke down and bought some puppy food for him last night and fashioned a wind break for him.
Decided to name him Rosco.
So anyone know what kind of mutt he is?
Was thinking St. Benard with the coloring on his ears.

Sure wish we could have a dog.
Please don't leave him out in the cold, he needs some TLC right now.
You Did Good!!!!!!! [^]

I ended up with a cat the same way. He was a well cared for declawed cat. I theorize he was with a family in a motor home and got out and lost and they had to leave. Or he was just dmped who knows.
Looks like he'll make you a good dog.
Nice photos, thanks.
I wish it was legal to shoot people that dump animals,......they are the scums of the earth IMHO.[xx(]
Clouder..
Good for you drobs. You got a big heart.
He is a real cutie and will make a great pet.
where you live he is the first of many to come, for some reason people believe if the drop an animal off at a house in the country it will automatically be given a good home, i think this relieves them of guilt or something
Ask me about the truth of what you just posted!
I don't live anywhere close to as rural as Drobs does, but for here I am kind of in the boons per se.
Another factor is the lake across from my house. People drop animals out here all the time, although I haven't seen any for a surprising amount of time.
The people that border the lake are always having dumped animals show up on their property. So far I have been successful in finding homes for the ones that have showed up at my place.
A couple of them I have had to take to our local Humane Society, but they were adopted out. It's a no-kill shelter, and I donate to them several times a year along with giving stuff to their thrift shop.
Before anyone says it,......our local one has NO connection to the HSUS that is simply a front for anti-gun and hunting organizations.
He's A Lucky Dog Drobs
Thanks[;)][^]
I think you're both lucky.
It looks like he is your kind.[;)]
He will make a great driveway alarm

Don
She finally started to emerge.
She's never gotten to more than half-size, she'll be forever little. So we gave her a second name, 'Fuzzmuffin'.
Long story short, she gives everybody face-baths in the morning.
The people who dump animals may one day find themselves being discarded.
A little cat turned up living near our place, last winter. She would not let anybody get close, and lived in the snow, fending for herself. We figured out where she was holed up and put food there for her, but other animals would get it. She was willing to fight for it, but she just wasn't big enough, so she was starving. But her weakness also slowed her down, and a neighbor girl finally got her hands on her. We got her inside, and then we couldn't find her for about a week. She was hiding out, but we bought a litter box and it would show usage, and the food in the bowl was getting eaten. We figured she was born about Christmastime, so we named her 'Noel'.

We had a St. Bernard when I was a kid and yours looks like he has
some in him. Prepare for loving slobber attacks...and huge dogfood bills. Ours would greet us by putting his front paws on the car roof and sticking his head in the window. Very loyal and docile.
If he truly is a St. Bernard, or mostly one, don't buy him any shoes that fit! He'll grow like crazy. I work in a small-town courthouse, and a lady here -- deputy County Attorney -- has a St. Bernard she brings to work most days. This fellow was a cute pup several months ago, and is about half-grown now. Still cute, but in a big way.
got one of those!!! Buford Blue showed up May 30 and never left!!
Shilo,.....what caused the different color eyes, or is that just the pic?
Good for you as well.
Seems just about everyone here loves dogs![;)]

Genetics I reckon...he has earth and sky eyes, one blue, one brown. We have a bull dog mix with one of each too
What an adorable pup
looks a little like the pup that Vladimir Putin got as a gift, I don't know the breed but looks like a St. Bernard but isnt and the pics were in the press a while ago (and in internet memes for a long while after)
Welcome to the pack...
