Did you manage to escape the hospital with a short stay or are they holding you for a longer period?

I understand where she is coming from and i know what you are feeling. You are happy to be doing something good for someone who really needs it.

However she knows you need as much rest as you can get. What is coming next is nothing like you have seen before.

When i got to my rough patch my wife would not let ANYBODY except my family visit me. She would make my Grand Kids clean up as best s she could get them. I had 2 now i have 5 lol.

When she sees you doing other things she is probably wishing you would rest or spend your time with her. Remember she is going through this as much as you. I think my wife went through more than i did. I slept most of the time while she was taking care of me. She would hook me up to a machine so i could eat while i was sleeping.

    Please keep us posted.

    Prayers David

All the advice i have now is just 3 things.

    1. Rest Rest Rest. You are going to get weaker and weaker and weaker.
    I hope i am wrong.
    2. Stay on top of your pain management. When you get behind its like
bills when you get behind it is hard to catch up.
    3. Stay on top of your nausea meds i threw up so much my wife gave them
to me every 2 hours. Whether i was sick or not.

Number 4 i just made up. Try and take your girlfriend somewhere if you can get some strength up. If not just hold her and say thank you and i love you.

    Prayers asked from here. Again....

I have been informed and entertained and saddened by your posts for awhile. IT HAS OCCURED TO ME, THAT NO MATTER WHAT, YOU HAVE BEATEN THE CANCER THAT ATTACKED YOU. You have remained your true self, altruistic and an inviting and personable man, no matter how bad the circumstance. Cancer may have attacked but, you have stood above the difficulties to keep doing exactly what you do, giving hope, inspiration and information to those lucky enough to hear you. I would only hope I could be a courageous as you in similar circumstance. Thank you

    Hello

    Vitals check + blood draws

Early am physical therapy with a sadistic nurse (stretching - walking with wrist and ankle weights - range of motion exercises)

Stainless Steel locker room style hot jetted whirlpool style bath with some sort of mentholated salts added

Stationary bike work hooked up to heart monitor and some sort of breathing apparatus

    Vitals check

Brief consult with a social worker or a related therapist

Usually a follow up visit or consult with one of the docs or nurses or specialists

Run one errand (pharmacy - grocery store - etc..)

Go home - take pain meds - sponge bath...

Tend to the animals - elimination and exercise in the back yard while I observe from an Adirondack style chair...

Pain meds and fatigue and pain and nausea catch up to me and I am out (in the chair on the porch - in a chair in the house - sitting up on the sofa - face down at the kitchen table - in the car in the garage / while treating the leather seats)

They tell me I am not bringing in enough calories and protein

I have fallen asleep reading - using my phone - in burger king - at the library...

I am sleeping a lot of the time - my metabolism is running like a blast furnace

They pulled all the staples and the abdominal drain tube on Tuesday

I am profoundly exhausted and the pt is a stone cold *.

So to summarize, you're still on the right side of the dirt, your body is burning calories at a furious rate trying to heal itself, you need lots of sleep due to the healing process wearing you out, and you're still on the right side of the dirt!!![^][^][^]
I know it will probably never happen, but you're one of the folks here I'd like to meet and shake your hand.
    Keep on keepin' on, Mike!

I am not happy about it but I pretty much spent the better part of the day doing nothing...

After physical therapy I came home and was washing my face - standing up over the sink...

I grabbed an oversized towel to pat my face dry...

When closed my eyes and pressed the towel against my face I had vertigo...

The whole room spun and tilted and I fell down.

    Not hurt but unhappy.

Never experienced anything like that before.

Decided to play it safe and limit my activity - get some rest.

Mike, not to lecture you. You know your own body better than anyone.

(But) You NEED to give your body some rest to recuperate.

Getting PT and increasing your caloric intake is good, and needful.

(But) What is also needful, is giving your body the rest it needs in order to recuperate.

Don't push it too hard Brother.

    Slow and easy.

    Be well,

    It's just frustrating...

It feels wrong to sleep all day.

I will be sitting down at the end of the couch with the TV on or a book in my hands or surfing the web on my phone and I lose time.

I mean suddenly the phone or book has dropped onto the floor and I find myself startled awake...

Not having realized that I lost track of things and zoned out.

I know it's an indicator of fatigue and a need for sleep and rest...

Simply tuning - zoning - spacing out like this is disturbing.

Not being able to sleep at all other times only complicates things.

I know that the meds and the pain and the fatigue and pt and stress and recovery and and a dozen other issues combine to make things complicated.

It feels wrong to do nothing or to be able to do nothing.

    There you go Brother.

    Listen to your body.

You've been through a Battle, an ordeal, if you will.

Rest and sleep is needful for recovery, especially after a major surgery.

    Give it time.

Get some rest and heal up.
