Magazine Compatability

I just bought my first handgun today, a Sig p229 in 9mm. I have been looking online for more mags for it and I just have one question. Will any other models(226, 228 ect) mags work with the 229? I have found some good deals on every other model except the one I want. Thanks for your help in advance

    I have a Valmet M76 in .308. Will the magazines for a Valmet M78 in .308 work in my gun?

    I think the 78 has stiffeners/side plates at the top of the magazine.

    cut and pasted "I agree 100% with "GoodGuy's," comments! I also believe that Valmet designed the rifles with different mags for a reason, and if it was feasible to have the M-78 Mag work in both rifles, they would have."
