New Gun trigger break in period?

I have a 2 week old Springfield XD 9. It has 500 rounds through it. A gun range employee shot it a few times tonight and he knew right away that the gun was new due to the trigger still being tight. If I wanted to have a trigger job done on it - should I wait until I have X number of rounds?

Tight? I don't know what that means. I'll bet that if you had been singing on American Idol he'd have said that you sounded "pitchy".

You bought an assembly-line gun. Most have a trigger pull that will improve slightly over the first few hundred rounds as the mating surfaces wear in. But, an experienced gunsmith can do many things that will dramatically improve a trigger pull, & this can be done at any time.
