We have my great grandfathers Ivers Johnson 20 gauge shotgun (Hercules model), and finding history on it has been difficult. Any info you can share would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Tyson

    tyson,
the iver johnson hercules grade double barrel shotguns were manufactured between about 1924 and 1941. they are considered field grade utility guns but were amoung the best built in this class. they were offered with barrels from 28 to 32 inches long for the 12 and 16 gauges, 28 inches only for the 20 gauge and 26 inches only for the 410 bore. the barrels on the 20 gauge were left full choke and right modified choke. value can be any where between $250 for one in poor condition up to $1000 depending on condition and options. there was a very fancy trap model called the 'hercules supertrap' that command even higher prices. the exact number of the hercules grade double barrel manufactured is unknown but was far less the iver johnson's single barrel shotguns.
