European most likely made between WW I and WW II If you sell it it won't put your kids through collage . but might get you a large latte at Starbucks.

A very nice example of the type known as "Velo Dog" - intended to be carried by bicycle riders as protection against canine attackers - production era and area of production are as stated by Perry Shooter.
Some were chambered in "proprietary" calibers which included a .25.

In the 1890's a Belgian named Charles Francois Galand, developed the "Velo Dog" revolver as a means of protecting bicyclists from wild dogs which would sometimes be loaded with rock salt.

It's a rimfire. Velodogs were centerfire, I believe.
With the stop notches so close together, I'd guess 22long (not Long Rifle)

The VeloDog used a 5.5mm revolver cartridge which was a .225 center fire in a short cartridge.

If there are no markings other then the number 230. It was probably made in Spain. The other European Countries proofed their firearms.

It has what could be a sideways crown with an x, or the crown could just be two v's or n's . It is very small and hard to read. The 230 is between two of these marks.
