"Newport" Gun???

I have a 16 gauge single shot shotgun that I am trying to find out some details about the only thing written or inscribed on it is the word "Newport" on the left hand side of the gun besides the serial #. This gun is to my best estimate at least 40-45 yrs old probably older. Thanks
