Cheapo milsurp ammo question

What's the cheapest rifle milsurp ammo out there right now?

I don't care if its corrosive or a zillion years old, so long as it is safe to fire and goes "bang" at least 90% of the time.

Is it 5.45x39? 7.62x54?

As a related question, are there any NON-semi-automatic rifles that will take the common steel cased 7.62x39 ammo? (Single shot would be fine). How about the 5.45x39?

Any RIFLES that will take the Tokarev 7.62x25 pistol ammo? (Obviously, I mean non submachine guns).

    1. Right now 7.62X54R is probably the cheapest surplus; but it ain't cheap. The days of 5 cents a round are over. Figure 15 c per round minimum.

    2. Yes. Several companies such as Rossi, CZ, etc., offer single shot break open or bolt actions in 7.62X39. Dunno on the 5.45.

    3. Not that I know of.

If found that you can still find some bulk 7.62x54R, many suppliers are back ordered on 7.62X39.

Is this part of Obama's economic recovery plan? Increase the sales of ammo and firearms, confiscate it, and then sell it in foreign countries?

I agree 7.62x54r will still probably be cheaper. but you can try centerfiresystems.com, they are somewhat decent on prices.

    7.62x54r 20rnds 4.99

    5.45x39 25rnds 4.75
    all wolf 500rnds 104.99
    1000rnds 199.99

gun shows usually have good priced surplus ammo

There's still some Nazi-marked 8mm around also for about $4 a hundred at some surplus sites.
I have a Contender barrel chambered for 7.62X39; does that count?

Sure, that would count, I guess.
Do you happen to know which site(s) carry this WWII era milsurp ammo?
