I couldn't get close enough to an AR flattop w/ scope using any of my earphone type sound protectors. The P2000 is worse.
Foam plugs aren't enough.
Any good recommendations for effective but very narrow hearing protectors?
My hearing is already compromised.

Check with your local hearing aid suppliers, they may make them also.
And google for them for more info.

That said it also impedes hearing protection, when using the improper cheek weld...meaning bearing right down to the cheek bone on the comb.
Just something you might want to try.
and get yourself a Kies Master blaster
(Linear compensator). When you set one
off ,instead of the concussion and gases
going every which way. The Linear compensator
"pushes" the concussion ahead and away from
the shooter. Much more comfortable to shoot
and the guy next to you will thank you.
This device doesn't suppress the sound it just
sends the wave a bit further out instead of side to side,
top to bottom.
And way cheaper than the electronic variety that are not custom fit.
I've had good success.
The headband is too small, smaller than 4-5 other electronic muffs I have, resulting in cups barely reaching bottom of the ears and having insufficient pressure there. Forget about wearing them over a cap.
Talking to them is like pizzin in the wind.
They are thinner at bottom but not thin enough for AR or P2000 shooting.
