6 month wait on DPMS

I posted, thanks for the great replies, about my research comparing the DPMS and Stag AR's in 6.8 spc. I emailed DPMS and they said the wait would be at least 6 months. I am still waiting to hear from Stag what the wait is. I also contacted CMMG who sells the 6.8 upper to see if they would put it on a lower. I had gone through a local FFL who contracted to have one built through a local custom builder. IT was supposed to be done in May. Now, in August, after more than 6 months, we gave up on him and the phantom AR. Does anyone have any experiences with long waits concerning Stag?

Not particularly stag but most manuf. in general have had a run on the bank so to speak

with the possibility of an anti gun POTUS people are getting all they can and now. most manuf are backed up 2-3months on non production and 1-2 months on run of the mill guns.

also check with RRA as they make 2-3 different models in 6.8spc

The gun shop I use gets 6.8 Stag uppers in about a week or two as of last month.

Are you looking for a complete gun or an upper?

If you are looking for a complete gun and are able to find uppers why dont you buy a complete upper and have it shipped to you. Then buy a complete lower from your dealer or find one and have it shipped to you dealer. You might save a few buck and all you have to do is use your finger to push the two pins to make a complete rifle......

For everyone who responded, thanks as this really helps. I kind of figured the election had spurred sales. For Nwcid: Why would I ask a member if I should buy a gun? Actually, I was asking which one to buy as I had already made up my mind to buy a 6.8 following approximately 2 years of research. For WarGames, thanks a million, I have talked with them off and on for a couple of years as well, mostly at shows, and they can have one built, 18" barrel, in 3 to 4 weeks. Now it is down to price. Again, I really appreciate everyone's opinions and advice as this really helped me make up my mind.

I just had a response from DPMS regarding a custom built AR from there (DMPS) website.
NOTE THE WAIT TIME!

Partial reply from DPMS:

I have 4 questions regarding your 24" S.S. bull barrels in .223/5.56MM

1. Do you offer the option of a 1x8 twist for heavier bullets? Yes just ask for it
2. Do you have an option for a SAAMI Spec CHAMBER? no
3. Does the threading of the barrel for a compensator retain the target crown at the muzzle yes but it may cause a negative effect on accuracy
4. Would something like the above configuration be available in a 20" barrel length and what do you think the effect on accuracy would be between a 20" barrel and 24" barrel? (Sorry, 2 questions in 1) yes a 20" bull is available and a longer barrel would equate to better accuracy. We are looking at a 1 ? - 2 year wait on a gun with those upgrades
