I have just inherited a Browning Auto 5 shotgun with the serial # B35XXX weighing a tad over 9 pounds. The barrel is not ribbed and it is engraved Browning Arms Co St Louis MO. It hasn't been fired in over 30 years and it is in pristine condition. I was wondering just how old is it and how much is it worth?

I am having some problem understanding the serial number on my 20 gauge auto 5. It has a gold trigger but does not indicate light twenty on the receiver as my 12 gauge does . Was all of the twentys made light weight. The serial number starts 5Z. According to the blue book it is a light twenty. Also how can I match the wood on these guns. It seems that these guns vary in color over the years. The forearm needs either to be work on or replaced. It has a crack and a chip out of it on the insides. Thanks for any replys.

Are these pictures of a Browning Auto 5 barrel? It is chambered for 2 3/4" shells. It is made in Belgium. There are many indicative markings and proofs throughout. Figure over PV indicates the barrel is Nitro proof. Column stamp is the inspectors mark. ELG over star indicates definitive black powder proof. EL indicates provisional black powder proof. The barrel length is 27 9/16" (basically a 28"). I don't know what it goes to but it looks a lot like an Auto 5 shotgun barrel. Did they come choked? I honestly don't know 100% what it is I have here. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I believe that regular production ceased in 1999, with a limited number of special final tribute guns made in 2000.
