German P 38

I am getting up in years and have decided to buy one of the above to add to my small WW2 collection.
Much of what I have read regarding the P 38 is that Speewerke is last on the list as to quality and the prices reflect same.
So, I ask asking The Experts as there is a wealth of knowledge that pops in and out of this forum.
I realize the finish will be less than a Walter or Mauser model but after 43, every manufactures quality as to finish went south.
As far as the mechanics, is a Spreewerke similar to the other manufactures or way off?
Many thanks in advance for your help.

Otherwise they're pretty much the same.
If I remember right, Eagle 77 or 88 is the Waffenamt on the mag and the pistol parts.
Don't count on them being much cheaper than the others. ALL P.38's of wartime vintage have gotten quite valuable.
Proofs should read: WaA88* on frame, WaA359 on slide
Sprees sported identical mechs & roughest finish.

That is incorrect. Eagle 359 is the Waffenamt for Walther. cyq slides are also Eagle 88
