Primer Question??

Ive always heard that Berdan Primers were corrosive.I was looking through the shotgun news to buy some bulk .308 and it says Berdan primed non corrosive.Can someone explain this to me?

    Whether it is boxer or berdan has nothing to do with being corrosive or not. The mixture of the priming compound is the deciding factor. The europeans used corrosive berdan primers in their military ammo for years after we changed to a noncorrosive mix in our boxer primers.
