Can anyone provide me with any information on the Remington Model Six pump rifle cal 30/06. I am looking at one today. It appears to be like new. Looks just like a Model 7600 except it has what looks like a 30/06 shell case head inset into the bottom of the receiver. It has a high-gloss finish on the stock and bright bluing on the metal. It also has a Nikon 3x9x40 scope which is gloss and has NIKON on the windage adjustment knob and Nikon in small print around the objective lens. There are no model numbers or logos on the scope. Any information on the rifle and the scope would be greatly appreciated including an estimated value.

THE REMINGTON MOD. 6 WAS PRODUCED FROM 1981 AND DROPPED FROM THE CATALOG IN 1988. IT WAS A REPLACEMENT FOR THE 760 BDL. IT HAD POSITIVE CUT CHECKERING REPLACING THE PRESSED BASKETWEAVE CHECKERING OF THE 760. THEY DID INDEED HAVE A CARTRIDGE HEAD MEDALLION DENOTING CALIBER INLAID IN THE BARREL EXTENTION. THE SERIAL NO.S STARTED AT A4000000. FACTORY LIST PRICE IN 1981 WAS $399.95.[:)]

Thanks for the info. Do you know what the changes were from the Model Six to the Model 7600? I assume the Nikon scope is about the same vintage as the rifle. Any ideas on what model it is or the retail price?

THE MOD. 7600 WAS INDRODUCED AT THE SAME TIME AS THE MOD.6,JAN. 1981, THE 7600 SOLD NEW IN 1981 FOR $349.95 AND THE ONLY DIFFERENCE WAS COSMETIC, INSTEAD OF CUT CHECKERING THE 7600 HAD PRESS CHECKERING. TOTAL PRODUCTION OF THE MOD.6 WAS 36,236 IN FIVE DIFFERENT CALS. WITH THE 30-06 MAKING UP 50% OF TOTAL PRODUCTION. AS FOR WHAT IT'S WORTH I JUST PURCHASED A MOD.7600 IN .243 CAL. THAT WAS PRODUCED IN 1982 WITH A 3-9 BUSHNELL FROM THE SAME TIME FRAME FOR $275. THE RIFLE APPEARS NOT TO HAVE BEEN FIRED MUCH AT ALL. AND ON MY NEXT STOP FOUND THE SAME RIFLE MINUS SCOPE, WELL USED COND. AND THE SHOP WOULDN'T BUDGE OFF $499.[:)]

I ALSO HAVE A MOD.7600 IN 30-06 PRODUCED IN 1995,EXCELENT COND.(GET THIS, MY WIFE BOUGHT FOR ME!!!) SHE PAID $399, ONLY HAD A LEUPOLD BASE AND SET OF RINGS. AS FOR WHAT THE MOD.6 IS WORTH, MABY JUST A FEW MORE $$$$ THAN A 7600. IN 1983 REMINGTON INTRODUCED THE MOD.76 AS A LOWER COST OPTION($315) IT WAS A NO FRILLS, WALNUT FINISHED HARDWOOD STOCK, UNCHECKERED,POORLY POLISHED,MATTE FINISH METAL. THE MOD.76 WAS DISCONTINUED IN DEC. 1987[:)]
