How do I get it off, I located the pin and drove it out, is it soldered, do I sweat it and drive it off? Thanks

There are 2 pins. There is a transverse pin at the front bottom of the sight collar that is probably the one you drove out. The other pin is in a spline in the barrel lengthwise at top right. That pin keeps the collar from twisting. The collar is not soldered. Now that you have driven out the cross-pin just tap it forward toward the muzzle. It should come off with little effort.

I modified several of the 1903's in the 60's but with the current collector value of origional rifles, I would not do it now and I would advise against changing a rifle that is origional or can be returned to origional.
