Python frame grips fit. I put reproduction origonal grips on mine. I got them from Dixie Gunworks.

Here's a neat site that makes repro grips for all kinds of old guns including the old colts.

I'm sitting at work, can't check the guns right now. But my Officers Model Match & OM Trooper have the Python target grip, I have a few New Services and the New Service is a larger frame than the OM, OM Trooper & Python. Not doubting the answer - just (I hope) politely double checking? Maybe the target grips are not interchangeable, but the smaller "combat" type are?

If the Python target grips also fit the New Service, I've learned something new.

The New Service that I replaced to grips on, is a 45 Colt made in 1920. It had Python grips on it when I bought it. It had the butt swivel removed. I added a swivel to it and had to replace the grips because they covered the butt of the pistol.

Pearyw, a New Service frame is about a quarter inch longer than a Python E/I-frame, and over an eighth inch wider. Unmodified Python stocks therefore will not fit a New Service. The only Python stocks that could be modified to fit would full target stocks. There is just enough wood in the full target stocks to essentially make a pair of service stocks for a New Service. Your New Service either had modified Python stocks on it, or you are mistaken about the stocks being from a Python.

By the way, how did you know they were from a Python, since all E/I-frame stocks are the same size?

The grips probably were modified. They look just like the grips that came on my 6" Python that I purchased in 1967. Thanks for the information.
