I was visiting a friend and he showed me his latest pride and joy. It was a small carry pistol, don't remember seeing the manufacturer's name...but it was chambered for 45ACP...but it wasn't a semi auto. You had to manually work the slide to load the next round, at first I thought is was broken and that was why he was manually working the slide, nope that was the way it was designed. Feed the bullets from a magazine like a normal pistol. Darnest thing I have ever seen.

They never appeared to be a very practical personal protection handgun to me. Nothing more a very expensive conversation piece/paper weight, then reasonable self defense pistol.

That's a very surprising bid price to me, if it's on the level. I could see a original Semmerling going for that, not one of the recent Texas made knock-offs.
Doesn't the slide need to be pushed forward first, then pulled back, to chamber a round?
Gents,

Manually operated, I believe in theory that you are supposed to grasp the serratied area of the barrel between thumb and forefinger and then move it forward and back rapidly. In a high stress, life threating situation, I would probably drop a load in my pants before I got another cartridge loaded.
