F-Class

I have two Rem 700, One is 300 Win Mag and the other in 7mm Rem Mag. I was looking into shooting in some F-Class matches and they require nothing larger than 30Cal. Would either or both of these work or do I need to go shopping?

They would work, but it depends on what configuration they are, as to how competitive you will be.

Savage makes an F-class out of the box, ready to go. It is made in 308 winchester, and 6.5x284 which is the preferred choice now.

Thanks one is a Sendero and the other was a Custom Tactical. I bought with all of the paper work. I might look into the Savage. Is the 6.5 really better than the 308?

swap them for a .473" boltface action. The magnum action has a .532" boltface and the magnums don't fare well at f-class matches. Too many rounds fired across the course. IMHO, I would not use a magnum in f-class. I would lean more on the 260, 7mm-08, 308, etc, which use a short action, .437" boltface action. Or, possibly even a 6BR.
