Colt '70 series .22 ACE or .38 SUPER , both NIB

I'm reducing my collection but need a bit of advice. Which of these two pieces to sell? I have other shooters of both so would not do without. There seems to be more of the .22ACE than the .38 super on GB, so it is kind of hard to get an idea as to interest. Both pistols are pristine, unhandled, still in factory grease. Boxes are crisp with all paper work as well. I will offer one on GB when I get a better idea as to value of each pistol

Thanks for your input,

SW

I agree is the outside diameter of the barrel the same as a 45 barrel "FAT BARREL" or is it smaller in diameter.[?] What is the EXACT roll stamp on the slide. [?]

The 38Super made 1980 the ACE is hard to date because it would normally Have a serial number with the two letters SM as the first 2 digits of the serial number and these were brought back out in 1978 However Colt did some strange things during this time frame and it sounds like your ace is one of these pistols. IF the box has the serial number on the ace this would be a big help if not on the box then IMHO value would always be in doubt of if this is correct original gun or put together from different top and bottom halves.

EDIT your post will get locked after 10 post so just go to your last post and look at icon pencil click on it and it will let you add to that post without running up the COUNT Your other ace #SM 33488-SM40218 made in 1981 as to your other one IMHO not a factory error but just a lack of attention to details There are a number of these and NOT worth more because of it just make sure to keep box with the pistol to prove it is a factory as shipped gun.

The ACE serial, #70B512XX is on the box as well. Do I have an oddball/factory error here? My other ACE, #SM393XX,is numbered as you stated it should be. After years I'd forgotten just how mint this one is, only one pin sized "safe ding" away from perfect, but no box etc. Age on this one?

    Thanks for your help,

    SM393xx is 1981. Ace 70B512xx is probably 1983.
