I have a savage slide action (Model 25 ??). It looks exactly like the firearm in auction 123756954. Mine looks exactly like this one except for a couple of things. The buttplate does not have the indian head logo & on top of the barrel it is only marked "PREMIER S/L/LR".

The firearm in the auction I mentioned is absolutely like the one I have. There are no differences. The receiver is the same, the barrel is the same, the sights are the same......

Why is mine not ,arked savage? Did they make an employee "run"?

Premier is listed in my reference as a Trade Name/Store Brand use by Montgomery Ward, on firearms they sold. My WAG is that Savage made the rifle for Monkey Ward.

It is quite common to find various firearms sold using Store Brand, or Trade Names. If you go to the Gun Parts Corp. web-site they have what the call the "cross over" list of firearms sold under these Store Brand and Trade Names. Many of the older names dating to the early years of the 20th Century, aren't listed though.
