    Sure,
    1905/6.
    Sorry, I couldn't help myself.[:D]
Welcome to the forum. Someone far more knowledgable and hopefully a bit less smart-assed than myself will be along soon.

    autosmith,

Your Smith & Wesson will have the serial number stamped on the bottom of the grip frame. Some guns will require you to remove the grip panels to view the number. Please verify the ser# at that location including any & all letters there also whether prefix or suffix to the number.

If your gun has no letter (prefix); it will be -
    .38 Military & Police Model of 1905 - 2nd Change mfg. 1906-1909
    ser# range 73251-146899

If your gun has a "V" prefix, it will be,
.38 Military & Police "Victory" Model mfg. 1942-1945
    ser# range V1-V769000 & SV769001-SV811832
All Victory Model guns were made with a lanyard ring. Many have been removed with the hole in the bottom of the grip frame being plugged.

If your gun has a "K" prefix, it will be,
    .38 Military & Police (postwar) - Pre-Model 10
Your ser# with a K prefix would date your gun to 1951

Autosmith...... The number as you listed it indicates the gun is a .38 Military & Police Model of 1905 2nd change. Made about 1909.

The number is on the bottom of the grip frame and there is no letter prefix. So is it possible that it was made between 1906 - 1909

    Thank you for your help
