Can anyone tell me the year of my springfield by the serial numbers? I am trying to find some night sights for it and this seems to be an unavoidable question when ordering. N446932 any help is greatly appreciated. thinking about novaks (have them now and love em) anyone had any luck with their nights?

I have an opportunity of buying a stainless 1911 which was traded in recently at my local store. It has no more than 150 rounds thru the barrel, according to the dealer who is a personal friend of the person who traded it in... How would I be able to check to see if this gun is what they say it is.... priced at about 475.... looks great, and barrel looks extremely clean... book value new is about 945... any thoughts would help on this purchase... This model built to the old military specs....

    Have you contacted Springfield? www.springfieldarmory.com
I have Novak regular black sightson mine, and I've often thought about having inserts installed. Springfield has a custom shop where they will install new sights or modify existing ones. Might try them first.
