I have a 583.70 jc higgins model 30 that had some rust on the extractor spring. I pulled the pin and extractor and cleaned well and re-assembled with a small amount of gun lube and still have stovepipe issues. Do you think the rust on the spring weakened it and now it won't eject properly. I love this gun
thanks

The ejector may also be an issue. The extractor hangs on while pulling the cartridge from the chamber. The ejector kicks it out of the receiver. If the extractor moves freely when manuevered by hand and doesn't have so sharp an edge it won't let go of the brass then it must be the ejector. IMO
