I was wondering about some of your thoughts on this particular bullet. I would be shooting it out of a Savage 12Fv in .223 with a 1:9 twist. I've noticed alot of bullet companies don't recommened this twist for their larger bullets. What would be an effective range for this particular bullet. I've also can't seem to find any reloading data for these bullets. Any info on that would also be greatly apprciated. I'm open to anything so let me have it. Thanks Brendon

The only .223 Rem. that I've used this bullet with is my .223 Ackley Improved Match rifle so my statistics will be a little different from the standard cartridge. According to Berger, this bullet will stabilize with the 1:9" twist at the .223 Rem. velocities. The problem that I've found it that it goes trans-sonic at about 850 yards. It doesn't drop to subsonic until just past 1,000 yards. That's all based on being able to push it hard at the upper pressure range for maximum velocity. I've used it for some F-Class shooting at 600 yards in calm weather and it holds up very well.

My favorite powder with this bullet in the .223 Rem. case is AA-XMR-2015 followed by V V N-135 and then Ramshot TAC.
I'm not sure what you mean by 'effective range' as there are quite a few variables that will determine any qualification of an answer.
I use a lot of the Berger bullets these days along with JLK and Hornady AMAX bullets. Even Sierra is starting to catch up after 30 years of sitting on their behinds.

Best.
I have a Savage 12FV and I had to really boost my loads to get the 70 gr. VLD's and 69 Gr. Sierra's to stabilize. I know rifle to rifle it's different. I've been looking into getting a 1-8" or 7" twist and end all questions as to whether or not it will stabilize.
