also, how can i be sure i am bidding on the correct shells on gunbroker.com? i am confused by the listings.

3" might be overkill, 2 3/4 will be plenty. First, I assume your talking defense, home defense. 00, 0, buckshot would be my 1st choice. The reason for the 2 3/4 is, faster follow up shot, yea I know know, you won't miss. Most people have never used their gun in a panic situation, always be ready for the follow up.

I've been shot at and shot, never in military or police, trust me, you don't function the same. Go play some paintball, the 1st couple times you don't shoot(load, aim, breath etc) like you normally do and its just paint flying by.

As for ammo, go to Midwayusa.com They will have it listed by brand, by shot size, etc. It might be a little less confusing than trying to buy at on GB. 4 shot will do, but I'd like bigger BB's, or smaller number of shot. Like 2, 0, 00 or buckshot. There are okay deals hear on GB, but some is bid too high and you can do better just buying elswear.

yes, home defense. looking to just get about 500 rounds of reasonable ammo before all hel breaks loose.

are you saying 2 3/4 inch shells are better? what about the size of the buckshot?

Personally I prefer reduced recoil 2 3/4" ammo. Usually 00buck 9 pellet, but if I can find it when I'm shopping I prefer 27 pellet #4 buck.

2 3/4 inch are fine. 3 inch will just kick harder...and the guy you are hitting will not know the difference.
