Bert,

I have here in my hands my grandpa's 1892 Winchester rifle.

Was wondering if you could give me a little history on the gun.

Winchester Model 1892
Ser #18218
24" (I think) hex barrel
Take down model
38 WCF
finish less than 20%, nice brown patenia!
original wood, no cracks

Any info as to age, value, etc would be great!

Thanks,

Scott

    Hello Scott,

Your Grandpa's old Winchester Model 1892 was serialized on October 14th of 1893, and it was received in the warehouse as a completed 38 W.C.F. Take Down Sporting Rifle on September 6th, 1894. It has a 24-inch octagon barrel. I highly recommend contacting the Cody Firearms Museum and having it lettered.

I really need to see pictures of it before passing judgement on the value.
