Is a China SKS with a blade bayonet C&R eligible??? Thanks. Jp

    The original Chinese Type 56 rifle (called an SKS) MAY be C&R eligible IF it is in original configuration and at least 50 years old. Some of those are. Type 56 carbines with serial numbers below 9,000,000 have the Russian-style blade-type folding bayonet, while those 9,000,000 and higher have a "spike" type folding bayonet.

    I am not referring to anything that bears the marking Norinco or China Sports or anything other than the Chinese govt markings and an importer's mark.

    Unlike Russian/Soviet and other SKS carbines which were given blanket C&R status, ChiCom rifles must be proven over 50 years old to qualify. Unless there are captures papers dated prior to 1967, proving an Chinese SKS age is something of a challenge. Check out this website and see if it helps:
