Magazine extension on a shotgun. Legal or not?

I have been told I can't have a screw on type magazine extension on a shotgun because of the new law. I've had it on for about 10 years and it increases the mag on my 1100 from 4 to 7. I see people are still buying high capacity mags for other guns. I thought the law only banned the making of new high capacity clips and mags. I didn't think we had to throw the ones we already had in the trash. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks

For home security use I believe the extended tube would be no problem (as my new Mossberg Persuader holds eight in the tube), but for hunting purposes it would need plugged to hold only two in the tube and one in the chamber, or at least this is the way it is in my state.

Slap two of those puppies together on a hard mount and you'd be in the street sweeping business in Afganistan.Go past the first round for personal defense and you better spend more time at the range. And to bring religion to a perp... It's not the size of the magazine, it's the size of the bore. Even more so if he happens to be gazing into the business end of a double."Hurt" is looking into a .22 muzzle. "Eternity" is facing a 12ga. double!

Dborn61, you're safe, if you've had the gun for 10 years it is a pre-ban. The later ones you're not supposed to, but the earlier ones is no problem. As for why they are still making 8 shot Persuader pumps. It is because they are pumps, not semi-autos. The Crime Bill of 1994 only targeted semi-autos. It has no effect on pumps. BTW, if you go with a 10 shot extension, make sure to use the barrel clamp to hold it to the barrel. That much weight needs more support than the tube threads can provide.
